Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Enamul Haque Enu, his brother Rupom Bhuiyan and their associate Sheikh Sunny Mostafa from Dhaka's Keraniganj area for their alleged link with casino business. Enamul Haque Enu is the vice-president of Awami League (AL) Gandaria unit and his brother Rupom Bhuiyan is the joint general secretary of the same unit.

Deputy Inspector General (organized crime) Imtiaz Ahmed disclosed the information in a press briefing. CID also seized 12 mobile phones and Tk19 lakh from their possession. According to CID, the duo have 22 properties in Dhaka and Tk19 crore in their 91 bank accounts.

The law enforcement agency is investigating into the matter to recover more of their illegal wealth. On September 24, 2019, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized about Tk5 crore in cash, eight kilograms of gold and six firearms during raids on the residences of the two ruling party leaders. The duo had been absconding following the incident.

Seven cases were filed against Dhaka Wanderers Club’s casino shareholders Enamul Haque and Rupom Bhuiyan last year over the recovery of huge money, gold and firearms from their houses in the capital during a raid. RAB lodged the cases accusing the four persons with Wari, Gendaria and Sutrapur police stations under the money laundering prevention, special power and firearms acts.

Together, the two brothers own 15 houses, and they used their firearms to terrorise people in the area.
