Ample amount of Hilsa Fish is available at all markets and haats in four upazilas of Chuadanga district recently and common people have been buying fishes according to their demand. Locals in the area said that prices of Hilsa fish is not crossing normal price range this season. Thus, the price range is almost in everyone’s grasp.
According to sources, wholesalers of Chuadanga fish market in the district town have been selling to the local fish sellers between Tk 500 to 1200 according to the size of Hilsa fish. After buying from them, local fish sellers are selling these in accordance of fish size at different areas.
It is learnt that sellers of various areas of the country specially Faridpur, Rajbari, Kushtia are selling Hilsa fish of Barishal, Chattogram, Gaibandha at Notun bazaar area, PuratonJailkhana area and Boro bazaar area in the district town from 6 pm to 10 pm daily.
Locals informed that 500 grams of Hilsa is being sold at Tk 550 per kg, 600 grams at Tk 700, 700 grams of Hilsa at Tk 850 and 1.5 kg of Hilsa at Tk 1250.
It may be mentioned h that juvenile Hilsa is being sold between Tk 300 and 400 per kg. Many people are interested to buy juvenile Hilsa though it is illegal to sell juvenile Hilsa according to law.
Day labors, Van and rickshaw pullers and other labors have been purchasing a small size of Hilsaworth at Tk 100 or 120.
Siddiqur Rahman, a Hilsa fish seller at PuratonJailkhan area said that he bought six or seven baskets of Hilsa fish from Barishal and Patuakhali. He sold all the fishes in last two days.
Delwar Hossain, anauto driver said he purchased a Hilsa fish from PuratonJailkhan area at Tk 100 for his family members. The purchased fish is sufficient for his family.
