Chuadanga observes National Mourning Day
The 46th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day were observed throughout Chuadanga district under the auspices of District Administration, Upazila Administration and Political Parties including Awami League in a befitting manner on August 15. The programmes included discussion meetings, painting competition, cultural competitions, hoisting of national flag, placing wreaths in the portraits of Bangabandhu and special prayer.
National flag was hoisted in half mast of top at dawn in all government and semi government offices, public buildings, private buildings, shopping malls and educational institutes.
District Administration chalked out different programmes including placing wreath to the portrait of Bangabandhu, discussion meeting, cultural competition, painting competition and prayer in mosques, churches and temples. A virtual discussion was held with Nazrul Islam Sarker, Deputy Commissioner in the chair while Chuadanga-1 MP Solaiman Haque Joarder was present as chief guest. Jahidul Islam, Superintendent of Police, Shamsul Abedin Khokon, Chairman of Zilla Parishad, Jahangir Alam Malik Khokon, Mayor of Chuadanga Pourasabha and Professor Azizur Rahman, Principal of Chuadanga Adarsha Mohila College addressed as special guests.
Monira Parvin, ADC (general) delivered welcoming address at the programme. Sajia Afrin, ADC (Revenue) and Arafat Rahman, ADM, were present at the discussion.
Chuadanga District Awami League was arranged separate programmes following hoisting of national flag and party flag in half mast of the top at dawn, placing wreath in the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, discussion meeting and special prayer.
Solaiman Hoque Joarder, MP of Chuadanga constituency-1 and President of District Awami League, presided over the discussion. Tara Devi Foundation distributed cooked food among 1500 distressed people and orphanages in the district to mark the day. Jahidul Islam, SP, inaugurated the program on its office premises. Rajib Hasan Kochi, General Secretary of Chuadanga Press Club, Najmul Hoque Swapon, General Secretary of Chuadanga Sangbadik Samity were present at the food distribution function.
