The people of Chuadanga district on Tuesday observed the great 'International Mother Language Day' and the 'Martyrs' Day with a vow to resist the destroyers of language, culture and heritage.
The programs included placing wreaths at the altar of Shaheed Minars, discussion meetings, rallies, hoisting of national flag, cultural competitions under the auspices of District Administration, Upazila Administrations, Political Parties including Awamileague and its wing organizations, Educational institutes, socio-organisations, Shilpakola Academy and Shishu Academy. A discussion meeting under the auspices of District Administration was held with Nazmul Hamid Reja, ADC, in the chair at DC Saheetya Monch on Deputy Commissioner Office Compund. Mohammad Aminul Islam Khan, DC, was present as chief guest. Abdullah Al Mamun, SP, Azizur Rahman, Principal of Mohila Government College, Jahangir Alam Malik, Mayor of Chuadanga Pourasabha, Mahfuzur Rahman Monju, Chairman of Zela Parishad and Noorul Islam Malik, Freedom Fighter addressed as special guests. Arafat Rahman, ADC (Revenue), Kabir Hossain, ADC (Education and ICT), Muzanur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Zela Parishad, Shamim Bhuiyan, UNO of Sadar upazila were present at the discussion.
The day program started to place wreaths at 12:01 am on the day by Mohammad Aminul Islam Khan, DC. After placing the wreath of Mr. Khan, DC, Abdullah Al Mamun, SP including others offices, political parties and socio organizations placed wreaths at Chuadanga Government College Shaheed Minar.
Students of different educational institutes took part in Provat ferry with bear foot and carrying placards and festoons, and paraded on the roads of the town.
Shishu Academy arranged cultural competition and painting competitions for the children to mark the day. Artists of Shilpakala Academy and Bangabandhu Sangiskritik Parshad rendered songs at different points of district town.
