Chuadanga mobile court fines rice sellers

The Directorate of Consumer Rights has fined a wholesaler for selling rice at a higher price in Chuadanga's Jibannagar and two auto-rickshaws for not disp­laying the price list properly. Sajal Ah­med, assistant director of Chua­danga dis­trict off­ice of Natio­nal Con­sumer Rig­hts Protec­tion Directorate, raided separate places of Jibannagar upazila on Monday at 3:30 pm and fined those three companies 1 lakh 70 thousand taka.

According to the sources of the operation, the operation was carried out in the wholesale market of rice called M/s Ekta Traders in Jibannagar town. 

At that time, due to not keeping the vouchers of purchase and sale of rice and the proof of selling rice at extra price was found, according to the Consumer Rights Protection Act-2009, a fine of 40,000 taka was imposed. 

On the other hand,  Desh Bangla Auto rice mill has been fined Tk 60,000 for marketing fake Indian brand rice in plastic bags and not dis­playing the price list properly, des­pite being warned earlier. Apart fr­om this, Satta Auto rice Mill has been fined 70 thousand rupees for the same crime.

Jibannagar Upazila Sanitary Inspector Md. cooperated fully in the campaign. Anisur Rahman and a team of Jibannagar Police Station. 

Sajal Ahmed, assistant director of the Chuadanga district office of the National Consumer Rights Protec­tion Directorate, said that the campaign will continue in the interest of the public.
