Chuadanga-2 constituency comprisesall unions of Damurhuda Upazila and Jiban nagar upazila, and Begumpur, Titudah, Goraitupi unions of Sadar upazila where Awami League and BNP are in the field with different programmesas per the direction of the central committees to keep the grassroots-level leaders, workers, activists and supporters united for the next parliament election.
It is learnt that both the parties are trying to win the support of people before the parliament election. But people have been observing their activities.
Ali AzgarTagar and freedom fighter Azadul Islam Azad of Awami League have been communicating with people, holding meetings and rallies with party grassroots level leaders, activists, supporters and youths for reelecting Awami League-nominated candidate and alertingthem to prevent any untoward incidents ahead of parliament election.
On the other hand, BNP leaders in the constituency have been delivering speeches at meetings in support of their 10-point demand. Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, convener of district BNP, is contacting leaders and activists of the party from top to bottom on present situation.
Ali Azgar Tagar was elected Member of Parliament (MP) in 2008, 2014 and 2018 respectively. He is former vice-president of district Awami League. During his tenure he haddone various development work including construction and repairing of roads, giving electricity connections, construction of new building in educational institutes under the present government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Freedom fighter Azadul Islam Azad, general secretary of district Awami League and former upazila chairman of Damurhuda, is a veteran politician of local Awami League. He was convener of the thenChuadanga Sub-division Chhatra League in 1972. Later, he joined the Jubo League and Awami League respectively. Now Mr Azad has been performing responsibility as general secretary of district Awami League.
Holding meetings, rallies and dialogues with leaders, activists, supporters and professionals separately to work in favour of Awami Leaguenominated candidate in the next parliament election properly.
Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, convener of district BNP, has been leading the party in the constituency for organizing central committee programmes through meetings, rallies and gatherings. The main focus of the party is to mobilize people’s support in favour of the party’s 10-point demand before the parliament election.
He hadcontested the election with BNP ticket in the constituency in 2018 but did not win. Various social development workswere done by him in the areas, for this reason he is popular to all. He ismaintaining close association with grassroots level activists of BNP on different issues, sources added.
