Chuadanga blacksmiths pass busy time before Eid

Blacksmiths are now passing busy time making sharp tools used for slaughtering sacrificial animals and processing the meat ahead of Eid-ul-Adha in Chuadanga.

Many people rush to blacksmiths’ shops to purchase new knife, machete and cleaver. Alongside them, the madrasa teachers and students and imams of mosques are also rushing to shops as they are eagerly waiting for slaughtering sacrificial animals. 

During a visit, it was found that the village of blacksmith in the district has become the sounds of ‘Tung-Tung’. The busyness of blacksmiths is increasing in Kamarpalli. Now the blacksmiths make coppers and many kinds of new knives and also repairing old ones.

The Eid-ul-Adha has already knocked the door. According to the blacksmiths, the sharpness of home-made machinery does not come in the whole year. If the Eid-ul-Adha is to be used, it will be useful by blacksmiths. On the other hand, vendors are already stored enough many choppers and knives.

It was found that a butcher knife is being sold at Tk 100 to Tk 200 while a regular knife is being sold at Tk 30 to Tk 80. A chopper is being sold at Tk 50 to Tk 120.

The demand of tools used for slaughtering animals sees a sharp rise during Eid-ul-Adha. 

However, many blacksmiths have stopped receiving fresh order to make tools as they are too busy. 

A blacksmith said that are working long hours ahead of Eid-ul-Adha as people are coming for machetes, choppers, knives and other sharp iron-made tools.
