Volunteer organisation Cholo Gori Belabo celebrated its sixth anniversary and inaugurated Belabo Public School at the school premises here on Saturday.
The programme was attended by teachers, students, parents, volunteers, social workers and people from different professions.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain Bokul and eminent educationist, industrialist and philanthropist Enayet Uddin Md Kaiser Khan were invited as chief guest and inaugurator, respectively.
Belabo Upazila BNP Convener and former Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Ahsan Habib Biplob attended as chief discussant. He expressed hope for necessary government support, including registration, for the development of the school.
Patron Tanvir Ahmed Biplob said the school could play an important role in ensuring quality education for local students and assured continued support for its development.
The programme, chaired by school land owner and social worker Md Nasir Uddin Bhuiyan, also featured a career guidance session for students, distribution of appointment letters among teachers, recognition of retired teachers and honours for volunteers and individuals for their social contributions.
Scholarships were distributed among meritorious students of the Cholo Gori Belabo Talent Search Examination. A sewing machine was also donated to an underprivileged person to help them become self-reliant.
The organizers expressed their commitment to developing Belabo Public School into a quality educational institution and expanding the organization’s social and humanitarian activities.
The programme ended with a group photo session and cake cutting to mark the organisation's sixth anniversary.
