‘Chokro’: A tale inspired by a family tragedy

Published : 11 Oct 2024 09:48 PM

Seventeen years ago, nine members of a family in Mymensingh tragically took their own lives. This haunting event inspired Vicky Zahed to create the series "Chokro," which premiered yesterday on the OTT platform iScreen.

When asked why viewers should watch the series, Vicky explained, "This is my first and probably my last serial. It’s based on a true story, which is both strange and intriguing. People will naturally be curious."

The project began three years ago, but production faced many challenges. Vicky noted, "After starting the shoot, we encountered mysterious and inexplicable obstacles. We had to pause filming several times, including due to personal losses."

Tragically, several crew members passed away during production. Cinematographer Zahid Hossain died in a road accident shortly after filming began. Line producer Masudul Mahmud Rohan also passed away, along with two others.

Despite these hurdles, "Chokro" is now available, with the first five episodes of the 20-episode series accessible for free. Tausif Mahbub and Tasnia Farin star in the lead roles, promising a gripping viewing experience.
