Chittagong University (CU) authorities have honored 50 heroic freedom fighters of Chittagong on the great Independence Day. Of these, 26 freedom fighters received posthumous honors.
The award was given to eight freedom fighters including former Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University (CU) Professor Anwarul Azim Arif in recognition of their contribution to the freedom struggle.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Shirin Akhter and teachers of different departments dressed the 50 freedom fighters at the ceremony held at the CU Shaheed Abdur Rob Hall on Saturday afternoon on the occasion of Independence Day.
The meeting was chaired by CU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shirin Akhtar and conducted by CU Teacher Dr. Mohammad Omar Farooq. CU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Benu Kumar Dey, Acting Registrar Prof. SM Monirul Hasan and Proctor Dr. Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan spoke on the occasion.
