Two Chinese Navy ships, Qi Jiguang and Jinggang Shan, have docked in Bangladesh for a four-day courtesy visit aimed at enhancing diplomatic and defense ties between the two nations.
The ship Qi Jiguang arrived at Chittagong Port on Sunday, where it was warmly received by Chief Staff Officer Captain M Asaduzzaman, representing the Commander of the Chattogram Naval Region.
The arrival was marked with a ceremonial naval band playing traditional music, symbolizing the hospitality extended by the Bangladesh Navy.
The reception also saw the presence of the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, alongside senior officials from both nations’ navies, highlighting the significance of the visit.
While Qi Jiguang berthed at Chittagong Port, its companion ship, Jinggang Shan, anchored at the outer port of Chattogram for the duration of the visit.
Earlier, as the Chinese vessels entered Bangladesh’s territorial waters, the Bangladesh Navy’s BNS Samudra Abhijan greeted them in a ceremonial welcome, underscoring the collaborative spirit between the two navies.
The presence of the Chinese ships in Bangladesh signifies the deepening military and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries. The visit is expected to bolster the bilateral relationship, emphasizing shared interests in regional security and maritime cooperation.
Following the four-day visit, the Chinese ships will depart from Bangladesh on October 15, 2024, marking the conclusion of a successful diplomatic mission.
