Chinese national dies at Mongla port

The chief engineer of a foreign ship that arrived at Mongla port has died of a heart attack. The deceased name is Fan Hongji (43), a Chinese national, who died of a stroke while working on the ship on Wednesday evening. 

Sheikh Fakr Uddin, Harbour Master Commander of Mongla Port Authority, confirmed this information to the Mongla correspondent of Bangladesh Post.

However, he claimed that the dead Chinese national did not have corona symptoms on his body. Harbour Master also said that Fan Hongji had been working on the ship for seven long months. 

The Singapore-flagged Epic St. Kitts reached Mongla port on Wednesday, carrying raw materials for an energy pack gas plant located in the industrial area of Mongla port, the harbour department of the port said.

Syed Mamunul Islam, AGM (Assistant Manager) of Messrs. Uni Global, the shipping agent of the foreign ship that arrived at the port, told Bangladesh Post that a UD case will be filed at Mongla Police Station after the medical examination of the deceased Chinese national. 

After that his body will be kept in the cold room of Khulna Medical College Hospital. He also said that the body would be sent to his country after the official paperwork and other activities finishes here.
