Police have rescued two children from Alokdia area of Hatikumrul Union in Sirajganj. One of the rescued children is alive and the other is dead. Among them is the newborn of the Majed-Sabita couple. The child went missing from Shakhawat Ace Hospital in Hatikumrul area of the district on Saturday afternoon. However, the identity of the dead child could not be confirmed. Salanga Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Quader Jilani confirmed the matter.
The OC said that six female members of the child-lifter gang have been arrested so far. Among them is a woman wearing a ‘burqa’ who stole a newborn on Saturday afternoon. Majed, the father of the newborn, filed a case with the Salanga police station in this connection. On Sunday morning, police sent the six accused to court. The court ordered them to be sent to jail.
