Chandni Akhter(6), a hapless child was crushed under the wheels of the Chander Gari as the vehicle compete to go faster by over taking a Leguna at Nurpur area of Sheyestaganj upazila under Habiganj district on Thursday morning.
Chandi Akhter was daughter of Farhad Mia of village Nurpur and a student of class one of Nurpur Government Primary School. The driver of the Chander Gari managed to escape with the vehicle after crushing Chandni under wheels.
It is learnt, a leguna was going to Habiganj from Olipur when a Chander Gari was trying to over take the Leguna for a long time on the way. At a stage of competition of over taking, driver of the Chander Gari crushed Chandni under wheels who was standing beside the road near Nurpur. Chandni was kiled on the spot. Local people put barricade on Habiganj-Shayesthaganj road in protest against the reckless driving of the vehicles and killing of the child. Later. police rushed to the spot and calmed the agitated mob. Mukles Mia, Chairman of Nurpur Union informed, the Chander Gari crushed the child standing at the footpath of the road.
