A small child drowned in a ditch in Dharmapasha upazila of Sunamganj district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Iffa Akter, 5, daughter of Rasel Mia, a resident of Gabi village under Selbarash union of the upazila.
According to the deceased family members, the child went to the ditch to take bath around 11am on Tuesday and didn't returned home after a while.
After realizing her absence, family members started looking for her and found the child floating in the ditch.
The child was rescued and taken to Dharmapasha Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
