A child named Rafi (2) drowned at Sarishabari in Jamalpur. The incident took place at Gobindapatal village in Pogaldigha union of the upazila on Friday afternoon.
Hospital and local sources said Rafi Mia, a two-year-old son of Hafizur Rahman of Gobindpatal village in the upazila, was playing in the backyard on Friday afternoon.
At one stage, invisible to everyone in the house, the child Rafi drowned in a hole filled with rain water next to the house. Later, the family members rescued Shishu Rafi from the pond and took him to Sarishabari Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty declared him dead.
