Child dies at isolation ward in Jashore

A 12-year-old girl in the 'institutional quarantine' in an isolation ward of Jashore General Hospital died on early Monday. But her relatives could not be found any where. She was admitted to the hospital on Sunday afternoon. Doctors said the girl's symptoms were reported to the IEDCR when doctors there said she had not died due to coronas.

Arif Ahmed, a residential medical officer at Jashore general hospital, said the girl was brought to the emergency department on Sunday afternoon. She had fever, cold, and cough. Later, she was treated and put in the hospital quarantine. 

The doctor visited the ward this morning and found the child dead. At that time, there were no relatives with the baby in the ward he added. Local representative of the IEDCR expected to collect samples on Monday morning. But after the girl died around 4 am, doctors discussed it with local representatives of the IEDCR about the symptoms. They later informed that she did not die of corona.

Civil Surgeon (CS) of Jashore Sheikh Abu Shaheen said, ‘when contacted with IEDCR, they said to us that there was no need for sample collection. I am trying to process of transferring the body of the child to its relatives.’ 

The relatives of the patients were not found at the hospital, he said. If not, we will take administrative action.” According to the hospital register, the girl's name is Kakali. Her father's name is Kalam Hossain. Their house is in Enayetpur in Jashore Sadar.
