Chest Disease Clinic suffers shortage of manpower

The Kishoreganj Chest Disease Clinic was built in 1963 on 95 decimal lands. But without a junior consultant, the clinic could not play a proper role in eliminating tuberculosis in Kishoreganj district.

Visiting Kishoreganj Chest Disease Clinic Office, this correspondent found, the clinic is pushing for manpower crisis. The post of Junior Consultant is nil. The medical officer is on duty. The post of pharmacist is nil. Although there are two persons in charge of the Home Visitor, one is in charge. The post of assistant nurse is also nil. The home visitor doing duty for the post of pharmacist. The X-ray machine at the Chest Disease Clinic is in good condition. 

Gene Expert Machine is also done here from 2014. Every day, 40 to 50 patients come for tuberculosis examination. Tuberculosis is found in the body of 20 to 25 patients per month. In each village during the treatment, the staff is monitor whether the medicine is being consumed regularly, but the home visitor is not able to properly handle the crisis.

According to sources in Kishoreganj Chest Clinic, a total of 17487 patients tested for cough in 2018 and 2019 years. The number of patients suffering from lung disease is 559. X-rays, blood tests, Gene Experts and other identified patients number 697. Gene Expert Machines, X-rays and all types of machines for blood tests are advanced but suffer from manpower crisis. While the target of nationally cured patients is 86 percent, the target in Kishoreganj district has been achieved at 93 percent.

Kishoreganj Civil Surgeon Dr. Mujibur Rahman said, the manpower crisis will be solved in consultation with other posts for providing medical care to the Chest Disease Clinic. He assured that the medical officer would regularly see the patient.
