The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials in Jhenaidah have nabbed a young man involved in cheating innocent people assuring them of changing examination results on Thursday midnight.
The law enforcers also recovered huge evidences from his possession for his alleged involvement in cheating the people and collecting money.
The arrestee was identified as Maniruzzaman, 24, son of Jamal Biswas of Golaknagar village in Shailkuapa upazila of Jhenidah. He is a graduate engineer in profession.
Superintendent of police of the CID in Jashore area Reshma Sharmin said as per the guidance of their central office, they were informed that a young man was cheating people in the name of changing their exam results using a fake face book id named Hasan Mahmud.
He was most active immediately before the announcement of secondary school certificate (SSC) examination expected to be published on May 31. He also collected some money from a number of SSC students through his b-kash account.
Under the supervision of special superintendent of CID police in Kushtia and Jashore area Shamsul Alam, CID inspector Kazal Kumar Sharma and Superintendent of police of the CID in Jashore area Reshma Sharmin along with sub inspector Masud Rana conducted the drive.
The law enforcers raided the house in collaboration with Shailkupa police station men and managed to nab him with two cell phones and four SIM cards. They also collected huge amount of evidences how the educated man was cheating the innocent people using cyber facilities.
Later the CID filed a case under digital security act with Shailkupa police station and produced the arrestee at a Jhenidah court, Reshma Sharmin said.
