The financial capacity of Chattogram Zilla Parishad has been greatly increased through various developmental works, market construction, transfer of shops and rent collection.
Chattogram Zilla Parishad Administrator MA Salam presided over the 1st development meeting on Sunday afternoon at Zilla Parishad Dak Bungalow Karnaphuli Auditorium on Sarson Road in the city.
Chief Executive Officer and member secretary of the committee Shabbir Iqbal conducted in the meeting. The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Local Government Badiul Alam, Executive Engineer LGED AKM Amiruzzaman, Representative of District Education Officer Dr. Khastagir Government Girls High School Principal Shaheda Akhtar, District Upazila Executive Officers and Municipal Executive Officers. Zilla Parishad Executive Officer Md Didarul Alam, Executive Engineer Mohammad Monirul Islam were also present.
In this meeting, the budget of 350 crores 61 lakhs 96 thousand 289 taka for the financial year 2022-23 of the Zilla Parishad was presented and detailed discussions were held on the income and expenditure of the budget. After detailed discussion, the decision to approve the budget was taken.
Zilla Parishad administrator MA Salam said that the financial capacity of Chattogram Zilla Parishad has been greatly increased by recovering land, building markets in the recovered areas, handing over shops in Salami and collecting rent. The size of this budget was only Tk 23 crore when I took over as administrator in 2011. Today the Chattogram Zilla Parishad is a unique height, not dependent on government grants.
He said that all local government institutions should be empowered to build a prosperous Bangladesh in 2041 by strengthening the hands of national treasure Sheikh Hasina.
