Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has commented that the communication system of Chattogram is being adjusted to keep pace with population growth and increasing industrialization.
The CCC Mayor made these comment while interacting with the people while visiting the ongoing development activities in North Agrabad, South Central Halishahar, Patenga and Gosaildanga wards of the city on Monday.
During the visit, he thanked Councilors Nazmul Haque Duke and Zaheda Begum Popi, the leaders of Karnaphuli Market Shop Owners Association of ward No. 24, and said that for the first time in the last 40 years after Mayor Rezaul took office, a project funded by CCC has been taken up to build one of the deficient drainage systems in this market.
The local residents as well as the buyers and sellers of the market will benefit as a result of which the market will expand financially.
After that, the mayor came to know about the various demands and complaints of the residents while visiting the newly built Beparipara City Corporation Raw Market with the funding of the neighbouring CCC.
Councillor Md. Morshed Ali and Ferdousi Akbar presented to the mayor the latest development activities in the Gosaildanga area and demanded the construction of a cemetery in the area.
During the inspection, the residents of South Central Halishahar under the leadership of Panel Mayor Afroza Kalam and Councillor Golam Mohammad Chowdhury said that new sluice gates have been constructed on Maheshkhal to alleviate the waterlogging, but due to the lack of sluice gates in the neighbouring post office canal, there is flooding in wardno. 38 South Central Halishahar and ward no. 39 South Halishahar areas. For this reason, when the residents demanded the construction of a sluice gate at the post office along with the expansion of the drainage and dredging system, the mayor instructed the engineering department to look into the matter.
When going to ward no. 41 South Patenga Ward, local residents told the Mayor led by local Wahidul Alam Chowdhury that curved roads have now been constructed in Patenga's alleys. Local residents are satisfied with the development activities of the government and Chattogram City Corporation (CCC). Meanwhile, the mayor said that lighting will be provided in the new areas where roads have been constructed.
Additional Chief Engineer Munirul Huda, Supervising Engineer Biplab Das, Executive Engineer Jashim Uddin, Ashiqul Islam, Anwar Jahan, Assistant Engineer Kamrul Hasan, Deputy Assistant Engineer Md. Ali were present.
