The Char Silimpur Government Primary School in Mizanpur Union of Sadar Upazila of Rajbari on the banks of the Padma has finally disappeared in the river.

On Friday at around 4:30 pm, the school collapsed into the river after breaking the CC block of the embankment of the river Padma adjacent to Char Selimpur 8th Ward School. Hundreds of people in the area started crying when they saw their favorite institution disappearing into the river with their own eyes.

With the collapse of the school, the education of more than a hundred children of the backward char people has become uncertain. However, the administration says that necessary steps will be taken immediately to prevent any disruption in the education of the students of this school.

Several residents adjacent to the school expressed outrage, saying the government was spending so much money on river erosion but the contractors were not doing a decent job. This school would not be broken if it worked well.

Earlier, on the morning of September 15, the dam on the right bank of the river Padma adjacent to the school suddenly started eroding again. As a result, about 40-50 m CC block of CC block is lost in the river bed.

The mosque and about half a hundred settlements including the school were under extreme threat as the CC block suddenly broke and went into the river. Since September 15, school authorities have been teaching Komalmati students in a safe tinshed.

Local resident Salim Sheikh said, "Our only school was not saved due to the negligence of the Water Development Board." The school went to the belly of that river. In addition to the school, more than two hundred families are now under threat.

Sumon, a student of the school, said, the only school we studied in went to the river. Our future is uncertain now.

Iman Ali Fakir, the headmaster of the school, said, "I have been teaching in the main building of the school since the school opened on September 12 Suddenly, on the morning of September 15the school washed away in the river. Because then the main building was at extreme risk. I was taking classes in the tin-shed next door thinking about the safety of the children. But today the school building went into the river.

Abdul Ahad, Executive Engineer of the Rajbari Water Development Board, said there was a sudden erosion due to the depletion of the Padma River. Upon receiving the news of the breakdown, we visited the spot. Geo bags are being removed on an emergency basis.
