A snake charmer died after being bitten by a venomous snake while attempting to catch it in Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred at Kapali Para village under Ballober Khas union.
The dead, Boyez Uddin, was a resident of Daktar Para in the same union.
According to locals, a venomous snake was spotted at the home of one Imran Ali early in the morning. The family immediately contacted local snake charmer Boyez Uddin for help. Upon arrival, he managed to capture the snake with the help of others.
Witnesses said Boyez held the snake by its tail and displayed it for some time. However, while attempting to place the snake into a container, it suddenly bit him on the hand. Shortly after, he began to exhibit symptoms of poisoning. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead soon after arrival.
The incident has been confirmed by Nazmul Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Kochakata Police Station.
