Police on Sunday submitted charge sheet in sensational Rifat Sharif murder case against 24 people including his wife Ayesha Siddiqa Minni.
Investigation Officer (IO) of the case pressed the charge sheet before Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate Court, report agencies.

The main accused of the case Nayan Bond, who was killed in an encounter with police, was dropped from the charge sheet. Earlier, the court fixed August 22 for submitting the charge sheet of the case. As the police failed to submit the charge sheet on that day, the court fixed September 3. But police placed the charge-sheet on Sunday hurriedly.

Earlier on August 29, a High Court Bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman granted conditional bail of Minnni. But the state side, on Sunday, filed an appeal with the court seeking cancelation of Minni’s bail. At least 15 people have, so far, been arrested in the case. They are; Rifat Faraji, Rishan Faraji, Chandan Sarker, Rabbi Akan, Hasan, Oli, Tiktak Ridoy, Sagar, Qumrul Islam Saimum, Ariyan Sraban, Rafiul Islam Rabbi, Tanvir, Nazmul Hasan, Ratul Shikdar and Ayesha Siddiqa Minni.

Earlier on June 26, Nayan and Rifat Farajee, along with some others, attacked 25-year-old Rifat Sharif, an internet service provider, with sharp weapons in front of Barguna Government College in front of his wife. A video clip of the barbaric attack, probably captured on a mobile phone, went viral on social media triggering public outrage, with many condemning the bystanders for not coming forward to save Rifat. His wife Ayesha alone desperately tried to save her husband from the attackers but in vain.

The clip showed that two assailants were hacking Rifat indiscriminately with sharp weapons as Ayesha was trying to hold back one of the attackers.
