Chandrakala’s ‘Sheikh Saadi’ at Delhi International Drama Festival

Bangladeshi theatre troupe Chandrakala has been invited to perform at the Indian International Drama Festival organised in Delhi. They will stage the play ‘Sheikh Saadi’, a drama based on the life and work of the Persian poet Sheikh Saadi, on January 27.

The play is composed by Apurba Kumar Kundu and HR Anik has directed it alongside playing the titled character. They will travel to Delhi on January 24. 

The story of the play revolves around a historical moment. During his time, the young king of Delhi organized a conference of poets, where Sheikh Saadi was invited as the chief poet. Sheikh Saadi’s most beloved friend, Delhi’s poet Amir Khasru wrote the invitation letter and wanted from the bottom of his heart to confirm Sheikh Saadi’s arrival. Sheikh Saadi, had traveled to Delhi several times in the past but due to old age, he could not respond to the invitation that time. Thus goes the story of the drama. 

Mamunur Rashid produced the play, Music-Hamidur Rahman Pappu, Stage-Fazle Rabbi Shukorno, Stage Assistant-Mahmudul Hasan Masum, Light-SM Angan, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Managing-Shoikot, Nishi, Popy, A Golam Sarowar, Mehedi, Nahian, Makeup-Johnny Sen, Art Direction-Sujan Mahbub.
