A badminton tournament has been organised recently by Chakaria Police Station on the occasion of International Mother Lan guage Day.
The Erfan-Sommel duo won the champion trophy defeating Gautam-Ripon duo 0-2 in the final of the tournament which was organised with great enthusiasm.
The Pilot-Sadeq pair secured the third place before the final on Thursday night.
Eight teams consisting of 16 players took part in the two-day tournament. Special prizes were given to the umpires along with the players of the teams.
Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police of Chakaria Circle Tafiqul Alam was the chief guest and Chakaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Osman Gani chaired the award giving ceremony.
Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Osman Gani presided over the award distribution function and Chakaria Press Club President M Jahed Chowdhury conducted it.
ASP Tafiqul Alam said sports enhances physical and mental fitness and reduces laziness. It is better to organise such competition at police station regularly on several national days.Traffic Police Inspector Mohammad Mashiur Rahman addressed the function as a spe
cial guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Officer-in-Charge of the police station Muhammad Osman Gani said, “Such arrangement of the police station will continue.” There are also plans to hold a tournament on the occasion of Independence Day.
Journalist M Jahed Chowdhury and Professor Sintu Kumar Chowdhury were the referees of the tournament.
