The recent scam of certificate forgery allegedly by the wife of Ali Akbar Khan, former Chairman of Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB), is very unfortunate. We the general people believe the educationists, academics and chiefs of educational institutions and boards always work for imparting moral education in order to develop a sense of moral values of our young generation.

Ali Akbar Khan was made OSD (officer on special duty) after detectives found evidence of financial transactions between his wife Sehela Parveen and a gang involved in forging certificates. A team of Detective Branch of police recently raided a fake certificate manufacturing factory in the city's Mirpur area and arrested two people from there. In the  aftermath of the raid, Shahela Parveen, the wife of Ali Akbar Khan, was arrested from Uttara in the city.

We get stunned when we see some chiefs of educational institutions and boards become derailed from their true path due to lack of moral values, greed, personal interests.  So, emphasis should be given when the authorities concerned will promote someone to the key post of an institution or an organision whether he or she is enriched with moral and ethical values.

When the wife of BTEB

Chairman gets involved

in such criminal activities,

it can not be accepted at all

Plainclothes police also arrested BTEB system analyst AKM Shamsuzzaman and his accomplice Faisal and recovered hundreds of fake certificates, marksheets, registration cards, admit cards, and original certificates, blank copies of marksheets stolen from BTEB. According to the arrestees, BTEB Chairman Ali Akbar allegedly used to run the syndicate, according to media reports.

We witnessed organised criminal gangs usually make counterfeit certificates of different subjects and degrees like MBBS, BDS, MPhil, PHD, engineering, and advocateship since long. They sell them to a section of dishonest people in exchange of huge money.

But when the wife of BTEB Chairman gets involved in such criminal activities, it can not be accepted at all. We are gravely concerned over the menace of fake educational certificate business as such serious fraudulent activity poses a significant threat to the original certificates holders. This is why, all educational institutions and government, and private organisations must develop and install reliable app at their respective offices immediately to verify their students or employees’ certificates. The fraud gang must be dealt with an iron hand.
