Chinese Ambassador in Bangladesh Yao Wen called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal on Tuesday (November14, 2023) at the latter’s office of the university.
He was accompanied by some other officials of Chinese Embassy in Dhaka. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of Dhaka University Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad, among others, were present on this occasion. During the meeting, they discussed about establishment of a research-based center titled ‘The Center for China Studies’ at Dhaka University to conduct multi-disciplinary researches.
They also exchanged views regarding various issues including the possibilities of strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programmes among the Dhaka University and different universities in China.
The possibilities of organising seminar, workshop, conference and cultural events jointly by Dhaka University and Chinese universities were also discussed in the meeting.
They stressed the need for more exchange of students, teachers and researchers among DU and Chinese Universities.
The DU VC said that an excellent friendly relationship has been prevailing between Bangladesh and China for a long time. These friendly ties between the two countries will be further strengthened in the days to come, he hoped.
The VC sought more support and cooperation from Chinese ambassador for academic, research and technological development at DU.
Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal thanked the Chinese envoy for his visit to Dhaka University and keen interest in its academic and research activities.
