Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin on Wednesday said, the Election Commission is fully prepared to conduct tomorrow’s national election in a free, fair, neutral, and credible manner.

CEC stated that election preparations were completed through a multi-dimensional and integrated approach, combining legal reforms, institutional readiness, consultations with stakeholders, and activity-based planning.
He noted that initiatives were taken to increase trust and participation through continuous dialogue with political parties, civil society, and other stakeholders. Simultaneously, amendments were made to electoral laws to ensure clarity, accountability, and legal compliance.
CEC emphasized that voter registration was given special priority. In the nationwide update, 4.5 million new voters were included, of whom 2.7 million are women. This brings the total number of registered voters to over 127 million.
mentioned that international development partners, including UN agencies, assisted in this process. For the first time, a postal ballot system has been introduced for expatriate Bangladeshis, with approximately 800,000 overseas voters registered. A postal ballot system has also been arranged for eligible domestic voters, and a significant number of ballots have already been returned.
Uddin confirmed that all operational preparations are complete. This includes the verification of polling stations, distribution of ballot papers, and nationwide training programs to ensure that voting is conducted with professionalism and in accordance with the rules.
He added that public awareness campaigns are ongoing in coordination with government offices. Voting will take place tomorrow in a single day, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. To facilitate participation, a public holiday has been declared for today and tomorrow.
The CEC further explained that presiding officers, along with assistant officers, will manage the voting and counting process at the polling stations. Results will be announced at the centers immediately after counting in the presence of candidates' agents, accredited observers, and journalists. Subsequently, Returning Officers will compile and officially announce the consolidated results.
Transparency is the cornerstone of this electoral process,” the CEC remarked. Representatives from 45 countries and organizations are participating. There will be more than 330 international observers—including approximately 220 from the European Union—and over 160 international journalists. Domestically, more than 45,000 observers from 81 registered organizations and over 60,000 journalists are expected to be authorized.
Nasir Uddin stated that journalists would have access to polling stations while maintaining voter privacy. Observers will be free to publish their findings after the election.
Regarding security, he said that comprehensive measures have been taken with the assistance of law enforcement agencies and the government.
In his concluding his speech, he thanked the journalists and observers for their professionalism and constructive engagement, noting that their role is vital for ensuring transparency and public trust.
“On the eve of the election, I reaffirm the Commission’s commitment to organizing a peaceful, credible, and participatory election,” he said.
