CDA to build ‘Karnaphuli Riverview Park’ following Patenga beach model

The Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) has taken the initiative to build 'Karnaphuli Riverview Park' on the Outer Ring Road project along the banks of the Karnaphuli River from Kalurghat to Chaktai.

This park, modeled after Patenga Sea Beach, is one of the planned new entertainment centers in the city. It will have walkways, cycle lanes, benches and galleries, kid zones and foot-over bridges along an area of about four and a half kilometers along the banks of the Karnaphuli River.

Sources said that the port city does not have enough entertainment centers for its large population. There is no open entertainment center for about 6 million city dwellers except Patenga Sea Beach. Which is located in the southwest of the city.

But there is no such spot for entertainment for the large population of the Bakalia area on the southeast edge.  That is why a new entertainment spot is being created in the approximately 9-kilometer long riverside area of the Chaktai-Kalurghat section.

Currently, a sluice gate has been constructed on the river bank in the outer ring road project area. Some small two-story structures will be built on the road slope.

These structures will have toilet facilities on the ground floor and a food zone on the upper floor. Visitors will be able to sit on it and enjoy the beauty of the river. This will not require additional infrastructure construction in the future.
