CDA will build a road near the north-east boundary of the sewerage project in the middle Halishahar of the city proposed by Chittagong WASA.

The decision was taken unanimously at a meeting of the technical committee comprising six government agencies on Monday.  The meeting was held at the Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) office.

The meeting was attended by Chittagong City Corporation, CDA, WASA, Chief Engineer of Chittagong Port, Railway (Eastern) representative and DCP (Traffic) of CMP Police.  WASA Sewerage Project Director and other officials of the concerned organizations were present at the occasion.

It is mention that WASA started the work of setting up a sewerage project on 163.855 acres of land acquired by Chittagong WASA in the central Halishahar of the city.  But when the CDA proposed to build a road from Chauchala to the Outer Ring Road in the middle of the project area, a 'tug of war' started between the two government agencies.

They also started blaming each other for this.  The implementation of the sewerage project was delayed.  In this situation, after the publication of the illustrated report in the media on March 21, a technical committee was formed with the representatives of six government agencies to solve the problem.  WASA, CDA, Chittagong City Corporation, Chittagong Port, Chief Engineer of Railways (Eastern), DCP (Traffic) of CMP Police were represented in the committee.
