CCTV installation in exam centers will ensure educational environment & transparency: Edu Minister

Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon said that the main objective of installing CCTV cameras in examination centers is to monitor the educational environment and ensure transparency.

He also instructed that IPS systems should be kept as backup during power outages so that examination monitoring can continue without interruption.

He made these remarks while virtually joining as the chief guest at an exchange meeting with center secretaries of the Chattogram Education Board and Madrasa and Technical Education Boards of the Chattogram region held on Friday at Chattogram College Auditorium ahead of the “SSC and Equivalent Examinations 2026.”

The Minister said that strict search measures must be ensured at exam center entry points and no examinee should be allowed to enter with illegal materials or cheating aids. He urged center secretaries to play a highly responsible role in this regard.

He emphasized fairness and transparency in script evaluation, stating that partial answers should receive partial marks, but marks must not be increased or decreased arbitrarily. He also mentioned introducing a random sampling system in answer sheet evaluation.

Referring to efforts to prevent question paper leaks, the Minister said that the government has strengthened the Public Examinations Act and strict action will be taken against those involved in such crimes. 

He said that coordination with relevant agencies will be strengthened to combat cyber-related offenses effectively.

He further said that there are plans to introduce a unified question paper system nationwide in the future to ensure uniformity in evaluation. 

He stressed improving education quality by introducing in-house coaching systems and urged institutions to play an active role in reducing students’ dependency on private coaching centers.

The meeting was presided over by Chairman of the Chattogram Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Professor Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury. Special guests included Board Exam Controller Professor Dr. Md. Parvez Sajjad Chowdhury.

Representatives of center secretaries included Headmaster Lokman Uddin Laheri of Jamalkhan Kusum Kumari City Corporation Girls’ High School, Principal Md. Mohsin Bhuiyan of Darul Ulum Kamil Madrasa, and Principal Atiqur Rahman of Government Technical School and College.

Also present were Chairman of Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board Professor Mia Mohammad Nurul Haque and Chairman of Bangladesh Technical Education Board Engineer Mohammad Ruhul Amin. The concluding speech was delivered by Board Secretary Professor Dr. A K M Samsuddin Azad.

At the end of the meeting, an open discussion session was held where head teachers from various institutions of the district raised different challenges and problems. The Minister listened attentively and assured prompt solutions, stating that the issues would be considered seriously.
