The Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Tuesday turned down a proposal from the Ministry of Shipping regarding a variation order for the construction of the 6.35 km (4+2 lane) connecting road under the Payra Port development project.
The proposal concerned the “Construction of 6.35 km (4+2 Lane) Payra Port Connecting Road” under the package WD-22 of the project titled “Construction of First Terminal and Ancillary Facilities of Payra Sea Port (2nd Revised)” being implemented by the Payra Port Authority.
According to official documents, the original contract value stood at Tk 655.50 crore, while the proposed variation involved a reduction of Tk 1,12,664.32 , bringing the revised contract value to Tk 655.48 crore, a decrease of 0.002 percent from the original amount.
The contract had been awarded to Spectra Engineers Limited as the selected contractor.
Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting.
The project aims to develop the first terminal and associated infrastructure at Payra Port to enhance the country’s maritime trade capacity and logistics connectivity.
