CCGP okays six proposals involving Tk 1,590cr

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) approved a total of six proposals worth Tk 1,590.36 crore.

The approval came from a meeting of the CCGP held virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair on Thursday.

Briefing reporters virtually after the meeting, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Md Shamsul Arefin said the CCGP approved six proposals involving 1,590.36 crore.

Purchase's proposals included 4 from the Ministry of Industry, 1 from the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources, and 1 from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. 

The CCGP approved to procure about 80,000 MT High Sulfur Furnace from Oil Unipec Singapore Pte Ltd for the period November to December, 2021 by Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) under the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources involving Tk 365.13 crore. A proposal of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) under the Ministry of Industries has been approved to import 30,000 MT of bulk granular urea fertilizer from Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), Saudi Arabia at a cost of Tk 194.96 crore.

Another proposal of the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) was approved to import 30,000 MT of bagged granular urea fertilizer from Muntajat, Qatar at a cost of Tk 197.79 crore.

A proposal of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting was approved for purchase of construction work of Package No. WD-1 of the “Construction of BFDC Complex" project from Messrs. Biswas Trading and Construction at a cost of Tk 274.52 crore.

Meanwhile, on the same day, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved two separate proposals in principle for importing some 16 lakh metric tons of crude oil and 58.50 lakh metric tons of refined oil for the year 2022 to meet the growing demand of the country.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal also chaired the meeting. 

Briefing reporters, Md Shamsul Arefin said that Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division would import 16 lakh metric tons of crude oil for this year from Saudi ARAMCO and ADNOC, Abu Dhabi under the Direct Procurement Method (DPM).

He also informed that BPC under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division would import another 58.50 lakh metric tons of refined fuel oil also for this year.
