CCCI seeks investment from Hong Kong businessmen

Speakers at  view exchange meeting on Wednesday opined that Chittagong is the largest special economic zone (SEZ) with potential investment scope for investors and businessmen of Hong Kong. 

The view exchange took place as the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Senior Economist Gary Ng met Chittagong Chamber of Commerce Industry (CCCI) leaders held an exchange of views at the Chamber's office at the World Trade Center.  Chamber President Omar Hazzaz, Chamber Director Md. Aheed Siraj Chowdhury (Swapan), Zahirul Islam Chowdhury (Alamgir), Mahfuzul Haque Shah, Mohammad Akhtar Parvez, Mahbubul Haque Mia, Mohammad Adnanul Islam, Mohammad Moniruddin, Akhtaruddin Mahmud, Omar Muktadir and Hong Kong Trade Development's South Asia Consultant Mitra Dave spoke.  Chamber Secretary In-charge Engineer Mohammad Farooq and BCE CEO Wasfi Tamim were present.

Chamber President Omar Hazzaz said the government has made the Chittagong region an attractive destination for investment through infrastructural development to make the port city as the logistics and economic hub of South Asia.  

Hong Kong Trade Development Council Senior Economist Gary Ng said "Bangladesh has become a country of emerging economy in South Asia.  Our visit is part of how Hong Kong products can be marketed in the local market of Bangladesh.   We are scrutinizing investment opportunities in various sectors of Hong Kong in Bangladesh, that's why we are in discussions with various agencies of the government as well as businessmen and chamber associations in the private sector".
