Managing Director (MD) of Pacific Jeans Syed Mohammad Tanvir has resigned from the Board of Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).
This is the first time in the 117-year history of the Chitt Chattogram Chamber that a director resigned within a week of the new committee taking over.
Tanvir submitted his resignation letter to Chamber president Omar Hazzaz on Wednesday.
Syed Mohammad Tanvir became the first director of Chattogram Chamber for the period 2019-2021. In the last term, he served as the Vice President of Chattogram Chamber. Tanvir's company Pacific Jeans earned $40.6 million from exports in the last financial year
Besides, on August 23, he also resigned from the membership of a trust named 'Center of Excellence'. This trust was formed on his initiative for training and research in the development of trade and commerce.
This time too there was no vote in Chattogram Chamber. This is the fifth time that no vote has taken place. Directors are elected unopposed in the Chamber. The elected directors elected 32-year-old Omar Hazzaz, the third son of Chittagong-11 Constituency Member of Parliament MA Latif, as the president. But despite the dissatisfaction, no one said anything publicly.
