The responsible 41 wards secretaries of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) have been asked to seek help from local, experienced mentors in service work including issuance of inheritance certificate, birth and death certificates.
Unnecessary confusion has spread about this through social media. Many people were seen congratulating their favorite person on Facebook as a coordinator or representative.
CCC administrator Khorshed Alam Sujon has warned those who are spreading these rumors to refrain from such propaganda.
He said they would be brought under law and have to face punishment. Expressing strong dissatisfaction with this misleading propaganda, he said that no one has been given the responsibility of coordinator or representative in any ward.
Following the expiration of the elected council of Chittagong City Corporation, the post of Councilor is now vacant under the Local Government Act (City Corporation-2009).
Ward secretaries have been instructed to discharge the duties of the councilor during the period. They have also been advised to seek the help of local experts and mentors in this work.
He said that above all, CCC Chief Revenue Officer Mufidul Alam has been given the responsibility of supervising the activities of wards 1 to 14, Chief Education Officer Sumon Barua has been given the responsibility of supervising the activities of wards 15 to 28 and Secretary Abu Shahed Chowdhury has been given the responsibility of supervising wards 28 to 41. Ward secretaries have been asked to seek the cooperation of some educators, teachers and local leaders in identifying the right heirs in issuing inheritance certificates at the local level. They were not asked to come to the ward office and engage in any activities.
The names of those in charge of the ward spread through social media are completely untrue and imaginary. Calling on those who are doing this to refrain from such propaganda, the administrator said that the city dwellers should refrain from listening to any such rumors.
