The outgoing CCC Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin on Tuesday announced the budget of Chattogram City Corporation for the fiscal year 2020-21.

Presenting a budget of Tk 2,438.30 crore at a press conference at the Chattogram Club, he said there are more initiatives needed to keep the city livable, which he has not able to complete in his five years tenure.

As Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin's term is ending today, he will have to hand over the responsibility to Khorshed Alam Sujan, the administrator appointed by the government.

One day before the expiration of his term, AJM Nasir Uddin announced current year's budget and presented a revised budget of Tk 1448.93 crore for last 2019-20 fiscal year.

The CCC elections was scheduled to be held on last March 29, which was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Although the election was postponed, the fate of the outgoing mayor is very much resolute. As the AL leader failed to get party nomination, he will not be contesting in the rescheduled election.

During the budget presentation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said, it is not possible to take on big projects due to lack of financial resources. If CCC wants to take big project, CCC has to pay 25 to 30 percent of the total expenditure of the development project. However, currently it is not possible, as CCC does not have sufficient fund.

He also mentioned that he was feeling sorry for not being able to take proper projects to alleviate the waterlogging crisis in the city.
