‘CCC sets record in revenue collection’

City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said the CCC had set a record in the last fiscal year in revenue collection.

He said this at a programme styled 'Mayor facing the People'  at Rima Convention Center in the port city on Thursday afternoon. On the occasion, the mayor answered various questions of people of different classes and professions.

In response to a question, the mayor said, "In the last financial year, we collected Tk 59 crore revenue. This is a record in the history of the CCC.

“CCC has a monthly spend of Tk 260 crore. 9 crore administrative expenditure now stands at Tk 20 crore. CCC is subsidizing the education and health sectors,” he added.

Jamalkhan resident Mani Sengupta alleged that she could not meet the mayor's at his house or office as the security officials did not let go in. Saying this she burst into tears.

In response, the mayor said, "A warlike situation prevails in my house as there are always 60-70 people sitting in the drawing room. Same situation prevails in my office. I'm giving as much time as I can. Now a days, I have to write by hand and listen to the audience at the same time.”

At the programme, many city dwellers raised question about the city’s waterlogging problem. In response, the mayor said CDA has taken a mega project to resolve the issue once and for all. The CDA and the military are jointly working in the project.

Asked about the chaos in the city's public transport sector, the mayor said, "I have persuaded an industrial organisation to bring new 100 AC buses for ensuring discipline on city streets. The company has opened LC to carry out the plan. I have also requested the BRTA and the CMP to approve the project.” At this time, the mayor also said ensuring a safe, livable, clean and green city within a short time is our only goal.

“We want the citizens of the city with us to reach the goal. for this. My expectation is to build Chittagong like a prosperous city,” he added.

Asked about the recent rumors, the mayor said, “Don’t be fooled by baseless rumors. If anyone sees someone taking law into his own hands, he should inform the law enforcers immediately.”
