Administrator of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Khorshed Alam Sujan has proposed to launch a few pairs of shuttle trains and at least four pairs of trains on the Dohazari route to facilitate communication between the city dwellers and Bangabandhu Industrial City in Mirsarai.
The CCC administrator made the proposal after meeting with Railway Minister Mohammad Nurul Islam Sujan at the Secretariat on Monday.
He said if the shuttle train is introduced, it would be easier for all classes of workers and employees to travel with Bangabandhu Industrial City.
MP Fazle Hossain Badshah and Railway Ministry Secretary Mohammad Selim Reza were present at the time.
CCC administrator informed the Railway Minister about the cancellation of the allotment of the land in Madarbari area of city and payment for the development of land and cancellation allotment of the land despite the possession of 7 acres of land by the City Corporation. The minister listened to the administrator's statement and assured to resolve it.
Administrator called upon the Railways Minister to repair and increase the number of container-laden railway bogies in Chattogram port, to re-open and renovate the railway workshop at Pahartali, to introduce multi-storey or multi-storey parking in front of the new railway station in the city. In order to reduce the container congestion in the port, the minister took seriously Sujan's proposal to increase the number of bogies along with the railway line.
CCC administrator requested the Railway Minister to allot multi-purpose parking in front of the new railway station and to prevent misuse of Pahartali Jodh Debar as well as to stop criminal and anti-social activities in the vicinity of the station.
Addressing the Railway Minister, the administrator said that Pahartali Deba has a natural beauty. In the past, people in the area dug this lake to alleviate the shortage of potable water. If allotted, this Deba will be aesthetically decorated and developed as an entertainment center at the initiative of the City Corporation.
Railway Minister Nurul Islam hoped that he would be able to visit Chattogram at a convenient time and inspect the proposed sites of the CCC administrator and make a positive decision in this regard soon.
