CCC plans to launch metro rail in port city

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) plans to launch Metro Rail Transport (MRT) on three routes in Chattogram city. 

These are from Kalurghat to the airport 26.5 km (km), 13.5 km from City Gate to Shah Amanat Bridge and 14.5 km to Oxygen more to AK Khan bus stoppage.The announcement comes out while CCC Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin addresses as chief guest at a presentation on the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Pre-Qualification Report under the advisory body of Residence Engineers and Consultants Limited at the CCC conference room on Friday.

On the occasion, a team of 25 high-powered team of MRT pre-qualification reports were published, including BUET Dr Sohrab Uddin, Dr Azadur Rahman, Md Mahbubul Alam. However, deputy team leader Mahbubur Rahman presented the documentary.

According to the documentary, 3 stations of 54.5 km have been proposed for 47 stations. The distance of each station will be from 700m to 2.5km. Metro rail will have an average speed of 45 km per hour. It is possible to transport up to 60,000 passengers on both sides via 1 hour in the 20 km long MRT.

Mayor said, Chittagong is the second largest city, port city important for business, commercial capital. In order to implement the Prime Minister's vision, the maximum capacity of the port must be increased.Stating that the MRT has been planned for public transport, the mayor said it should have been taken a long time ago. 

Speaking as the special guest, CDA Chairman Dobash said that discussions and coordination with all the agencies are needed before the project start. It would have been nice if there were representatives of ports and railways here. MRT depots should be taken outside Hathazari or Mirsarai outside the city. It's hard to find a 60 acre place in the city.

Engineer Ali Ashraf, former Chittagong Chamber Director Mahfuzul Haque Shah, Engineer Md Harun, CUET Vice-Chancellor Rafiqul Alam, Architect Ashiq Imran, Engineer Subash Barua, CCC Chief Engineer Colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed Power Development Board Chief Engineer Prabir Kumar Sen, CCC Chief Planner Rezaul Karim and CDA Chief Engineer Hasan Bin Shams were also present at the programme.
