Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor freedom fighter Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said that the adoption and implementation of Chattogram's development project is being conducted on the basis of citizen's opinion.
CCC mayor made this comment in the first meeting of the CCC’s City Level Coordination Committee (CLCC) on Wednesday during an exchange of views with development agency JICA and various organizations and prominent people of Chattogram.
CCC Mayor said, if any project is taken without considering the needs of the people, project will never be fruitful. For this reason, since assuming the post of mayor, I have been giving importance to checking people's opinion in the matter of accepting and implementing the development plan of Chattogram. Following various surveys, researches, expert opinions, methods of modern states etc. I want to involve the people to make the development plan successful because development will be successful and sustainable only if the people for whom the development is involved are involved.
CCC Secretary Khaled Mahmud said, not only by material development. CCC is also giving priority to human aspects in development. Among the city corporations in Bangladesh, CCC invests the most in the education sector so that future generations are the biggest beneficiaries of development programmes. Apart from this, we are also expanding health activities. Our expectation is that the Chattogram of the future will be a well-educated, healthy.
In the meeting, JICA project Chief Advisor Naoko Anzai shared the experience of Japan's development method.
He said, in the light of Japan's development experience, I can say that CCC can increase public involvement by expanding various Internet-based services. Development should be for the people, with the people and through the people.
