The court has acquitted Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor and former Chattogram Metropolitan BNP President Dr Shahadat Hossain in three cases.
The three cases are- Special Tribunal 525/20, 526/20 and ST 331/25.
On Tuesday, Chattogram court of Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Abdur Rahman discharged Dr Shahadat Hossain after receiving the report as per the cases directed by the Bangladesh Secretariat Law Branch.
Dr Shahadat Hossain's lawyer Ahmed Kamrul Islam Chowdhury Sajjad confirmed the matter. He said that these cases were filed to harass him politically.
The case was handled by the District Bar Association's President Advocate Abdus Sattar, former president Advocate Enamul Haque, Advocate Mofizul Haque Bhuiyan, Advocate Tariq Ahmed and a large number of lawyers.
CCC mayor said, "An attempt was made to suppress me and the democratic movement through false and harassing cases. But due to the mercy of God, the justice of the court and your prayers and love, I was acquitted today.”
