Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) and Chattogram WASA (CWASA) held a meeting on the MoU of World Bank's 'Chattogram Water Supply, Development and Sanitation Project-2' on human waste management.

In a discussion meeting held at the CCC office, the two government body of Chattogram city expressed their interest.  A delegation led by WASA Managing Director Engineer AKM Fazlullah was present in the meeting.

CWASA MD Fazlullah said, due to lack of proper management, many people are releasing the septic tank waste into various watercourses including drains.  Which is causing a terrible impact on the environment.  In order to overcome this situation, by implementing the project with the help of the World Bank, the human waste management will be developed in the slum areas and the human waste from the septic tanks of the residential buildings will be collected and treated in the treatment plant under construction in Halishahar.  That is why WASA wants to sign MoU with CCC and CDA for implementation of the project.

CCC Mayor said, CCC will provide maximum assistance in the implementation of this project for the sake of sustainable development.  The population of Chattogram is increasing rapidly due to the economic potential of Chattogram.  For the management of this huge human waste, the experience of the successful countries of the world should be used to increase the liveability of the city.  The capacity to supply fresh water to the marginal areas of the city should be increased.
