Councilors Abdus Sabur Liton, Gias Uddin and Afroza Zahur have been elected as panel mayors of Chittagong City Corporation.
The election was held at the CCC KB Abdus Sattar auditorium in Anderkilla area in the port city on Monday afternoon before the second general meeting of the current CCC board.
Mayor Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury announced the results. The meeting was chaired by CCC Acting Secretary and Chief Revenue Officer Nazrul Islam.
Six councilors among the general councilors and five of the reserved wards contested in the election.
The general councilors included Dewan Bazar Ward Councilor No. 20 Chowdhury Hasan Mahmud Hasni, North Kattli Ward Councilor No. 10 Dr Nisar Uddin Ahmed Monju, Bagmaniram Ward Councilor No. 15 Mohammad Gias Uddin, Andarkilla Ward Councilor No. 32 Jahar Lal Hazari, East Bakalia Ward Councilor No. 18 Md Harun Ur Rashid and Rampur Ward Councilor No. 25 Abdus Sabur Liton.
The reserved ward councilors were Zobaira Nargis Khan, Neelu Nag, Afroza Kalam, Lutfunnesa Dhobhas Baby and Ferdous Begum Munni.
Councilors exercised their voting right in a festive atmosphere. Each of them voted for 2 general ward councilors and one reserved ward councilor.
Earlier, the panel mayoral election was scheduled for Thursday morning but was postponed due to the death of Chawkbazar ward councilor Syed Golam Haider Mintu.
