CCC fine pedestrians for not wearing mask in lockdown

A mobile court of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has fined 9 people Tk 1,200 for not using masks during the first day of the lockdown to prevent the spread of the epidemic corona virus.  Two shopkeepers were fined Tk 1,000 for keeping their shops open at Jubilee Road Machinery Market.

 CCC Executive Magistrate Marufa Begum Nelly and Special Magistrate (Joint District and Sessions Judge) Jahanara Ferdous led the operation on Monday.

 Executive Magistrate Marufa Begum Nelly said nine people were fined Tk 1,200 for not wearing masks in Kazir Deuri, Abdul Karim Lane, Jubilee Road, New Market, Railway Station and Station Road areas of the city. Besides, a fine of Tk 1,000 has been imposed for keeping 2 shops of the machinery market open.

During the operation, people without masks were fined, warned and masks were distributed by the CCC.

 The public was made aware of the lockdown and observance of hygiene rules, including wearing masks.

 CCC officials, employees and the Chittagong Metropolitan Police assisted in conducting the operation.
