Cattle truck collision in Faridganj, 2 dead

Two motorcyclists were killed in a collision when a cattle truck hit them in Faridganj upazila of Chandpur, three more were injured.

The accident took place around 11pm on Sunday (July 27) in front of Tafadar Bari near the Chandpur-Faridganj Bailey Bridge.

The deceased are- Md. Jisan (21) and Rasel Mia (22). Their home is in Goalvaor village of Gobindapur South Union in Faridganj upazila. The deceased are cousins by relation. They met with the accident on their way home from Faridganj city on a motorcycle.

Meanwhile, the injured were identified as Rakib Patwari (20), Mamun Bepari and Tarek Bepari. The three were riding on another motorcycle.

Police seized the truck along with its driver from Dalalbazar area of Raipur upazila of Laxmipur district.

Faridganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rakib said a truck laiden with cattle was going to Chittagong via Faridganj through Harinaghat in Chandpur. When it reached the spot, it hit the speeding motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. Police seized the truck and arrested the driver.

He said a case was filed at Faridganj police station at night.
