This year, permanent and makeshift markets of sacrificial animals will be arranged maintaining the health guidelines and social distance, Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam said Thursday, reports UNB.

The minister came up with the remarks while attending an online meeting over animal market locally known as ‘haat’ ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Besides, he also directed the health authorities to ensure specific place for animal sacrifice and rapid waste management.
He insisted on controlling the entrance and exit where buyers will have to follow the social distance and maintain queue in the animal markets. “Wearing masks will be compulsory for all buyers and sellers, disinfects will be sprayed and there should be facility to wash hands frequently.”, he said.

For overall security adequate number of magistrates and law enforcers will be deployed in the markets, the minister said.
To avoid overcrowing Tajul he advised the city dwellers to buy sacrificial animal early instead of one or two day before the Eid.

Two mayors of Dhaka North and South City Corporations and other ministry officials also attended the meeting.
Eid ul-Azha or the "Festival of the Sacrifice", the second of two Islamic festivals celebrated by Muslim community is likely to be celebrated on July 31.
