Casino kingpin Samrat sent to jail again

Expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat was sent jail on Tuesday following his surrender to the trial court as per a High Court direction.

He surrendered to the court of Judge of the Special Judge Court-6 of Dhaka Al Asad Md Asifuzzaman around 12.30pm on Tuesday.

He also filed a bail plea. However, the court fixed June 9 for hearing on his bail petitions.

Earlier, the HC scrapped the bail and ordered him to surrender to the trial court within seven days. He was granted bail by the trial court in a graft case.

The Judge of the Special Judge Court-6 of Dhaka, Al Asad Md Asifuzzaman, granted bail to Samrat in the ACC case Earlier on May 11.

Samrat was released from jail on May 11 following the lower court decision.

The lower court imposed conditions that Samrat would not be allowed to leave the country without permission and that he would submit his passport and health reports on a stipulated date.

 ACC filed the case against Samrat with its Integrated District office-1 of Dhaka for amassing an illegal wealth of Tk 2.94 crore on November 12 in 2019.
