Case filed over lynch mob attack in Laxmipur

Police filed case against 500-600 people over incident of killing a suspected robber in a lynch-mob attack at Sagardi village under Raipur upazila in Laxmipur. The suspected robber was killed and five others were injured in the lynch-mob attack early on Friday. Police filed the case on Friday night. Manik Chandra Barua, sub-inspector of Raipur Police Station, filed the case. The deceased was identified as Sohel.

Tota Mia, officer-in-charge of Raipur Police Station, said that a gang of robbers swooped on the house of Jabbar Ali Bepari at the dead of night and kept the house-inmates hostage at gunpoint. Hearing their screams, neighbours encircled the house and caught six of the robbers. Later, they gave them a good thrashing, leaving six robbers injured. On information, police went to the spot and taken them to local hospital where Sohel died. Two light guns, six cartridges and some sharp weapons were recovered from the spot.
